The first training session kicked off with a hike up the Llanberis Path of Snowdon.

I joined the rest of the Machu Picchu team members as well as supportive family and friends. This was the first time the group had all been together and it was as if the weather knew as it delivered us perfect climbing conditions.

We met by the Snowdon Light Railway station at the base of the mountain, after a short briefing and introductions from all the climbers.
Then we set off in the sunshine. After 6 hours, 15 kilometres and 948m elevation, and a lot of laughing we reached the summit together. Then we split into smaller groups for the descent with the more experienced team members going first. It was an amazing achievement for the team all round.
